Description

In 1997, Governor Lawton Chiles signed a bill in effect dissolving the Department of Health and Rehabilitative Services and dividing its roles between the Department of Health and the Department of Children and Families.

Accompanying note: "With HRS Secretary Bob Williams, (r) by his side, Gov. Lawton Chiles explains his reorganization plan of the Florida HRS Dept., following a televised half-hour show where the plan was presented. At the far left is Senator Eleanor Weinstock, D-Palm Beach whose legislation helped trigger the organization."
